First of all, thank you SO much for taking a peek into our blog and even more so being interested enough to actually read a teeny bit of my story! I don’t normally like talking about myself (I’d rather talk about my couples instead!) but every now and then, reflecting on where we started and where we now are is an incredibly humbling feeling and gets me excited enough to write about it. So here I am, being vulnerable and sharing the person who started this little SoCal collaborative of wedding planners. I won’t necessarily get into too much of the “how I started” since you can dive into that on my “About Page“, but a secret that you won’t read there is how much I genuinely dig that my portfolio is intentionally eclectic in every way. No two NGE couples (or their wedding designs, vendors, locations, etc.) are the same. I value connecting with a couple’s unique story and creating something fresh and exciting that fits them…not fitting them to a design or theme. The opportunity to try something new and to challenge myself is what truly excites me about my career. I could go on and on, but I’d be much happier sharing a coffee and  stories with you in person (I’m always down for that if you want to shoot me an email). Who Inspires You: Sophia Amoruso, Founder of Girlboss. She is unapologetically herself and constantly shares the challenges of trying, failing, and trying again until you find what works best for you and your company. From humble roots to empowering entrepreneur, she inspires me to keep kicking ass and that it is ok to fail as long as you get back up.

Planning Secrets that I Wish Everyone Knew: There are so many! My biggest piece of advice would be that there is no right or wrong way to host your wedding. An example would be to cut out all of the formalities that have no sentimental meaning to you. No, you don’t have to have a cake or a first dance or a grand entrance or the god-awful bouquet or garter toss. I’m also not a fan of friends, family, or other vendors pushing you into doing things that don’t speak to you. Do what feels comfortable to you and your partner!

Favorite Type of Event Design: Variety, Texture, and Balance! I’m a big fan of melding patterns and hues  and always prefer an unexpected and eclectic design rather than being too matchy-matchy. I also really love intimate small scale events.

Favorite Part of the Wedding Day: The time after all vendors are set and before guests arrive. It may only be minutes, but it is such a magical and quiet time to take all of your months of hard work in. My second favorite part is when the couple gets the same experience of visiting their reception space before any of their guests enter during cocktail hour. Their gasps and tears and smiles make for such a breathtaking and sentimental moment between us.

Favorite Drink: Give me *black* coffee and I’ll give you my love. Or were we talking liquor? In that case, anything bourbon or whiskey.
